IIN Frontiers in Nanotechnology Seminar Series – Peter Gregory

Professor Peter Gregory

Editor in Chief, Advanced Materials
VP and Publishing Director, Wiley

Abstract

Functional materials play a central role in areas such as Healthcare, Sustainability, and Technology, and journals serving the community of chemists, physicists, life scientists, and engineers active in this area are among some of the highest Impact publications in science. Peter Gregory, Editor in Chief of the journal Advanced Materials, will trace the developments in the 30 years since the journal was founded, in terms of the trends in scientific topics, funding priorities, geographical contributions, and some publishing themes such as open access, and provide some food for thought on both how these might develop in the future and how to maximize the chances of being published in these top journals.

Since then he has founded over 20 scientific journals, including the ”Advanced” family including Advanced Energy Materials, Advanced Science, Advanced Healthcare Materials, Advanced Materials Interfaces, Advanced Optical Materials, and more. In the early 200s he spent 5 years as MD Publishing of the RSC in Cambridge, and founded journals there such as Soft Matter, Chemistry World, and Molecular Biosystems.
