Northwestern University scientist Chad A. Mirkin, one of the world’s leading nanotechnology researchers, has been selected to receive the 2016 American Institute of Chemists Gold Medal.
The American Institute of Chemists (AIC) Gold Medal recognizes service to the science of chemistry and to the profession of chemistry or chemical engineering. First presented in 1926, previous recipients have included 11 Nobel Laureates, including Glenn T. Seaborg, Herbert C. Brown, and Elizabeth Blackburn.
The AIC Gold Medal will be presented to Mirkin at an annual ceremony held jointly by the AIC and the Chemical Heritage Foundation in May 2016. In recognition of their achievements, Gold Medalists are given Life Fellowship in the Institute.
