Cassandra E. Callman, PhD, a postdoctoral researcher in the Mirkin Research Group at Northwestern University, was awarded funding by the American Cancer Society to pursue work on nanotechnology-based therapies to battle triple-negative breast cancer.

Dr. Callman’s research hopes to harness the power of nanotechnology to accelerate the development of a cancer vaccine for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Early studies have found nanoscale vaccines show remarkable anticancer efficacy in mouse models of TNBC, with 6 of 9 animals being completely cured.
