Welcome

The International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN) is a collaborative venture between Northwestern University and the Center for Nanoscale Materials at Argonne National Laboratory, which unites over $350 million in nanotechnology research, educational programs, and infrastructure under one umbrella.

Each year the IIN organizes and sponsors a symposium that brings together leading national and international rsearchers. The symposium provides a venue to enchance interactions and encourage collaborations.

The 2007 International Institute for Nanotechnology (IIN) Symposium will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 in the newly renovated Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Orrington, 1710 Orrington Avenue, Evanston, Illinois (this is an easy walk from the NU Evanston campus).

We are very pleased to announce that our plenary speakers include John Polanyi, the 1986 Nobel Prize winner in chemistry and Professor at the University of Toronto; and Cees Dekker, the Distinguished Professor of Molecular Biophysics and DIMES at the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.

Eight other distingushed invited speakers will showcase research in nanomaterials, nanodevices, bionanotechnology and nanotechnology solutions for energy and the environment.

There is no charge for attendance at the symposium, but space is limited and reservations will be taken on a first-come first-serve basis, so please register early to assure your seat! We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

  Mark C. Hersam, Conference Chair
